Comparison

Profound alternatives, compared honestly

Profound publishes $99/mo (Starter). Growth $399/mo. We publish $99 for ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude. This page sets the rest of both lists side by side, including the rows where they win — every figure read from their own pages on August 10, 2026.

First, what Profound is good at

The most complete product in the category and the one an enterprise buying committee will be most comfortable with: the deepest analytics, an agent-traffic view nobody else matches, and the brand recognition that makes it an easy internal recommendation. If you are running this for a large organisation and the budget is a rounding error, Profound is the safe answer.

Profound is the reference product in AI visibility, and most of the category is measured against it. The depth is real — its citation analysis and its view of how AI agents crawl a site go further than anyone else's, and at the top of its range it covers nine answer surfaces.

What surprises people is the shape of the entry tier. $99 buys ChatGPT and only ChatGPT; Perplexity and Google AI Overviews start at $399, and Gemini and Claude are Enterprise-tier, which is not priced publicly. Starter is also a single seat, and the cost of a second one is not published either. None of that makes it a worse product — it makes it a product sold upwards, which is worth knowing before the first invoice.

You can read all of that on their own pricing page, which is where the figures below came from.

Profound and Mentionify,
on what each one publishes

Not a feature checklist — the rows a buyer argues about after the first invoice. What Profound meters at the entry price: 50 prompts and 1,500 responses a month, run daily.

Where the Profound figures come from. Read on August 10, 2026 from their own public pages — pricing, product and help centre — never from a review site or from anyone’s comparison page, ours included. A cell reading “not published” is something Profound does not state anywhere, and we have not signed up for their product, so every claim about how it behaves is their own description of it. Check a price before you rely on it. Sources: the $99 Starter price, its single ChatGPT surface and the seat counts.

What $99 actually buys,
on both sides.

The same $99, spent on opposite things: their volume on one assistant, our three assistants on fewer questions.

Profound — Starter, $99/mo

  • 50 prompts and 1,500 responses a month, run daily — comfortably the larger allowance of the two.
  • One assistant: ChatGPT. Perplexity and Google AI Overviews start at Growth, $399/mo.
  • Gemini, Claude, Google AI Mode, Copilot, Grok and DeepSeek are Enterprise, which is unpriced.
  • One seat on Starter, three on Growth. The price of an extra seat is not published.
  • Exports are listed as “None” on Starter and the API is Enterprise-only.

Mentionify — Micro, $99/mo

  • Three assistants at the entry price: ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude, with no tier above them to reach.
  • 350 credits a month. One question on all three costs 6 credits a run — Gemini 1, ChatGPT 2, Claude 3.
  • About 13 questions a week on all three, or roughly 4 a day on Gemini and ChatGPT. Far less volume than theirs.
  • Unlimited seats, free, at every price including this one.
  • XLSX export of the full dataset on every plan, answer text included.

Where this lands against us. At an identical price Profound gives you a great deal more measurement than we do — fifty prompts and fifteen hundred responses against our 350 credits — and their analysis goes deeper than ours once you are inside it. If one assistant watched broadly is what you need, they are better value at $99 and it is not close. The trade only comes our way on two lines: the second and third assistant are included here and are an unpriced tier there, and the second person who needs to open the board is free here and unpublished there.

Who should buy Profound,
and who should buy us.

Buy Profound if

  • Buying committees. It is the reference product in the category, the name most likely to be recognised in the room, and the safe internal recommendation.
  • Anyone who needs the agent-crawl view of how AI systems read a site — nobody else publishes an equivalent, ourselves included.
  • Programmes where breadth on ChatGPT matters more than covering Gemini and Claude, and where $399 or an Enterprise quote is a rounding error.

Buy Mentionify if

  • Anyone who needs ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude from the first paid month rather than from an unpriced tier.
  • Teams where more than one person opens the dashboard — seats are free here and their price is not published there.
  • Buyers who want the data out from day one: full export on our entry plan, where their Starter tier lists exports as “None”.

Where we are different

If you need the deepest analysis money can buy and you have a budget for it, Profound is a better product than we are and we would rather say so. The reason people arrive here from there is usually one of two prices: three assistants cost $99 a month with us and Enterprise there, and a second person looking at the board costs nothing here and is not published there. We also show the five scored dimensions behind every number, so you can argue with a score instead of accepting it.

Wider than Profound and us? The ten-tool comparison is ordered by entry price. Deeper? The methodology and the score.

Profound questions

What is the best Profound alternative?

That depends on which part of Profound you are replacing. Their entry tier is $99/mo (Starter). Growth $399/mo. against our $99, and the table below sets the rest of their published terms beside ours. If neither shape fits, the ten-tool comparison covers the category — several of them are cheaper than both of us.

How much does Profound cost?

$99/mo (Starter). Growth $399/mo. Yes on Starter and Growth. Enterprise is sales-led. Read on August 10, 2026 from their own pricing page; check it before you rely on it, as this category reprices often.

Which AI assistants does Profound cover?

At the entry price: One: ChatGPT. Growth adds Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, for three. Their full published coverage: Nine — adding Google AI Mode, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Grok and DeepSeek — on the Enterprise tier, which is unpriced. Read those two sentences as one question — what is on the tier you would actually buy, rather than what is on the homepage.

Does Mentionify do everything Profound does?

No. Profound's published coverage is: Nine — adding Google AI Mode, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Grok and DeepSeek — on the Enterprise tier, which is unpriced. Ours is three assistants and nothing else. If the surfaces on their list are where your buyers are, pick them — the table above is where you should be able to see that. Our trade is depth over breadth, and the “Profound and Mentionify” rows above are the specific form it takes against them.

Can I try Mentionify and Profound before deciding?

Ours is the form on this page — a buyer question and a work email, no account, and you get the answer, the score, the rival list and every cited source. On their side: No free plan. A trial on the Growth tier, whose length appears only in their blog. A one-off AEO report behind an email and a code. Yes on Starter and Growth. Enterprise is sales-led. Run the same question through both and compare what each one shows you, because one real answer about your own brand settles more than any feature table, including the one above.
